Portiq Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Portiq ("Portiq", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Portiq iOS application (the "App"). Portiq is a property-management app for landlords. It is developed and operated by Ming Yi, an individual developer.
By using the App you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
The App collects the following categories of information:
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and a securely hashed password.
- Profile information. You may optionally provide a phone number and mailing address.
- Apple account identifier. To keep one Portiq account bound to one Apple ID, we store an anonymous identifier associated with your Apple ID. We do not receive your Apple password or full Apple account details.
- Property and management records. Information you enter about properties, leases, tenants, maintenance tasks, financial ledger entries, documents, and related notes.
- Tenant portal data. If you invite a tenant, we process invitation codes, tenant-submitted repair requests, messages, and related timeline activity.
- Payment information. If you use autopay rent collection, bank and payment details are collected and processed by Stripe. Portiq does not store full bank account or card numbers.
- Subscription information. If you purchase a Portiq Pro subscription, purchase and renewal status is processed by Apple and RevenueCat.
- Device tokens. If you enable notifications, we store an Apple Push Notification token to deliver alerts.
- Photos. You may add property photos, repair photos, and receipt images. Receipt scanning is performed on your device.
- Diagnostic information. Standard operational logs (such as error events) used to keep the App working reliably.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide and operate the App's features.
- To create and secure your account and bind it to your Apple ID.
- To enable the tenant portal, repair requests, and in-app messaging.
- To process subscription purchases and, if used, autopay rent collection.
- To send transactional notifications and emails you have enabled.
- To diagnose problems and improve reliability.
3. How Information Is Stored
- On your device and iCloud. Your property, lease, tenant, ledger, and document records are stored on your device and synced through your own private Apple iCloud account. Data held in your private iCloud database is not accessible to the developer.
- On our backend. Account and profile details, tenant portal data, autopay enrollment metadata, subscription status, in-app messages, and device tokens are stored using Supabase, our backend hosting provider.
4. Third-Party Services
The App relies on the following service providers, each of which processes data only as needed to provide their service:
- Apple: iCloud sync, in-app purchases, and push notifications.
- Supabase: account, authentication, and backend data storage.
- Stripe: payment processing for autopay rent collection.
- RevenueCat: subscription purchase management.
- Resend: delivery of transactional emails.
These providers maintain their own privacy policies governing their handling of data.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties except the service providers listed above, or where required by law. If you invite a tenant, information relevant to that tenancy (such as the property and lease context) is shared with the tenant you invited.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account from within the App, which removes your account and associated backend data. Records held in your private iCloud account are controlled by you through your Apple ID.
7. Your Rights
You may access and update your profile information within the App, and you may delete your account at any time. To make any other request regarding your data, contact us using the details below.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for adults managing rental property and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport and secure authentication. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
